In the year 1986, there were different expert economist who started an attempt to see the power of different currencies.  They called the study the Big Mac Index. The Big Mac which is made of two 1.6 oz beef patties, cheese, and some pickles, onion and special sauce is put together inside a sesame seed bun. This is no other than everyone’s favorite, McDonald’s very own signature sandwich. This was first created in Uniontown, Pennsylvania in 1968. Jim Delligatti, one of McDonald’s franchisee, made the first bun.

Today, the most expensive Big Macs in the world come from the following countries:

  • Denmark
  • Switzerland
  • Norway
  • Iceland.

In Denmark, a Big Mac costs 27.75 Danish kroner that is equivalent to $5.08 US. That is just the same bit of sandwich but this same big bite from McDonald’s which costs 6.30 Swiss francs or $5.20 costs about 40 Norwegian kroner or $6.88 when converted to US Dollars. The most expensive Big Mac in the world can be ordered in the country of Iceland. It will only cost a surprising 469 kronur or that’s $7.61 a piece.
